Special Needs & Disability Ministry

Looking for an autism-friendly or disability-supportive church in Coeur d'Alene? The Table Church offers sensory-aware, inclusive ministry support for children, adults, and families.

Our Approach

At The Table Church, we believe every person is made in the image of God and deeply valued by Him. Our Special Needs & Disability Ministry exists to support children, teens, adults, and families navigating disabilities, autism, sensory differences, developmental delays, communication challenges, and unique support needs.

We know visiting a new church can feel overwhelming, especially when you wonder if your child will be understood.
We also want you to know your child will be supported and welcomed. Our goal is to build a safe, caring, and flexible space where families can be formed in community together.

What We Offer

We work to create a calm, supportive setting for people who may have sensory issues, anxiety, or overstimulation. We also support those who struggle with transitions or new routines.

AAC & Communication Support

We welcome individuals who communicate using AAC devices, visual supports, gestures, limited verbal speech, or alternative communication methods. Communication looks different for everyone, and every voice matters here.

Flexible & Individualized Support

Every individual has unique strengths and challenges. Depending on your family’s needs, support may include:

  • One-on-one buddies

  • Visual schedules

  • Movement or sensory breaks

  • Adapted Bible lessons

  • Quiet spaces

  • Flexible participation options

Who We Serve

Our disability and special needs ministry welcomes individuals and families navigating:

  • Autism spectrum disorder

  • ADHD

  • Down syndrome

  • Developmental delays

  • Sensory processing differences

  • Physical disabilities

  • Communication disabilities

  • AAC users

  • Emotional regulation challenges

  • Anxiety and neurodivergence

You do not need a formal diagnosis to be welcomed or supported here.

What To Expect During Your First Visit

We know trying a new church environment can feel stressful for families with support needs. Our hope is to make your first visit feel as comfortable and supported as possible.

Before your visit, we encourage families to complete our Family Support Form so we can better understand:

  • Communication preferences

  • Sensory sensitivities

  • Safety concerns

  • Calming strategies

  • Medical or allergy considerations

  • Triggers or routines

  • Anything else that helps your family feel supported

After completing the form, a team member may reach out to answer questions and help prepare for your visit.

We believe the church should not just “make room” for people with disabilities. The church is stronger because they are part of it.

Every person has value, purpose, dignity, and a meaningful place in the body of Christ.

We are always learning and growing, and we work to build a place where people and families feel seen, respected, supported, and loved.
